Naomi's and I made penne and most excellent sauce (you have to say it with a British accent)
Most excellent sauce...
2 cans of tomato sauce
1 can of diced tomatoes
3 cloves garlic minced
1/3 cup of extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons dried basil
1 tablespoon Italian herb seasoning
1 teaspoon dried chopped chives
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper flakes
1 tablespoon sugar (to neutralize the acidity
in the tomatoes)
Mince garlic and put to the side. Get a medium saucepan and pour the extra virgin olive oil in. Turn the heat to medium and wait till the oil is hot (but not too hot or the garlic will burn and spatter). Add the garlic to the pan and sauté (but again, make sure it does not burn. Burned garlic is the worst!). Add tomato sauce and canned diced tomatoes. Then add all the herbs the hot pepper flakes and the sugar. Heat it up and if you want a more flavorful sauce let simmer for awhile.
